Cadiz Attractions

BONUS!!! One of the weekly cultural activities that our school staff organize is a guided city guide to help acquaint you with all of Cadiz's great attractions! Plus, the central location of our school facilities in the heart of the historic quarter means that you'll be literally right in the middle of all the top sights and things to do, ranging from the beach to the cathedral and beyond!

CATHEDRAL
Construction on Cádiz's cathedral, located in the aptly-named Plaza de la Catedral and overlooking the ocean, began in the early 18th century but subsequently took over a century to finish. Built in the high Baroque style with Neoclassical touches, the surprisingly enormous cathedral is built entirely of stone and features its characteristic gold-tiled dome.

BEACH
With great weather, long summers and miles of coastline, locals and visitors flock to Cadiz's beaches and stroll along the beautiful seaside promenade. Learn more: Cadiz Beaches

TORRE TAVIRA
Long ago, the city of Cadiz had to be constantly on the lookout for pirates and invading countries all wishing to get their hands on the strategic port and its New World riches. Along with defensive walls and fortresses, the city constructed several watchtowers (there were as many as 160 in the 18th century!), the tallest of which is the Torre Tavira. Nowadays, this tower is home to the "camara oscura", a set up involving a concave drum and a magnifying lens which projects real-time panoramic views of the ciy below. Very cool!

PARKS & PLAZAS
Cadiz is a city best explored on foot, thanks to its seaside promenade, lovely plazas and intimate parks.. not to mention great weather to enjoy it all in! Put away the map and just follow your feet!
