Spanish School Cadiz Levels

Enforex

Our Enforex courses are structured into 6 different Spanish language levels, these range from Basic (1) to Proficiency (6). This structure falls under the guidelines of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages similarly to those of the Instituto Cervantes. Also, our 6 level system coincides perfectly with the U.S. university system, meaning that, when you return to your home school, you will be able to receieve the corresponding credits for the Spanish language course you take here at Enforex's partner school in Cádiz.

How do you know which course level is appropriate for you? We decide this for you by means of a written and oral test. This takes place on your very first day at Enforex and just prior to your first class. You will then be subsequently placed into the corresponding course level. With the exception of level 6 (Proficiency), each level is then further divided into three sublevels; this way, we guarantee you will feel 100% confident that the course in which you are placed is best suited to your experience and knowledge of the Spanish language.

Level 1("A1"): Basic

This first Spanish level is aimed at those students who are taking a Spanish language course for the very first time. You will acquire a basic understanding of Spanish society, culture and traditions, and therefore form a solid base of language skills. You will learn how to form important grammatical and communicative structures in Spanish, these include verb conjugations in the present tense, talking about your likes and dislikes, greeting others, giving an opinion, talking about yourself and describing yourself and others.

Level 2 ("A2"): Elementary

This second Spanish language course level is designed for students who have a basic knowledge of Spanish grammar structures and some vocabulary. Your level of awareness of Spanish culture and society will noticeably increase as well as the acquirement of new and useful communication skills. You will increase your general grasp of Spanish grammar and vocabulary and be able to express yourself in a variety of communicative contexts.

Skills include: conjugation of verbs and narration in the past tense, formation of comparisons, expression of opinions, utilization of commands and differentiation between the verbs ser and estar.

Level 3 ("B1"): Intermediate

The Enforex Intermediate level is designed for incoming students who already have a solid Spanish vocabulary base and a grasp on some of the language's more complex grammatical structures. You will make the important transition from expressing yourself at a basic and functional level to achieving a certain degree of fluency in the language combined with a wider comprehension of the Spanish way of life. By improving your understanding of both linguistic and extra-linguistic structures, you will clearly note an improvement in your ability to communicate effectively with native Spanish-speakers.

Reviewing the past and present tenses, using the conditional and future tenses, expressing courtesy, expressing needs and desires through the subjunctive, building negative commands and expanding upon your ability to effectively express opinions are some of the skills covered in this level.

Level 4 ("B2"): Advanced

At the advanced level students are already feeling comfortable communicating freely in social situations and can form conversations with a certain degree of fluency. You will increase your ability to express detailed options, to debate themes; to join phrases and sentences in a cohesive manner; and to converse about more specific topics outside the realm of typical linguistic interchanges.

Skills covered: control of the subjunctive in all its contexts and comparing it to the indicative, utilization of periphrases, expression of hypotheses in the past and present, construction of the passive voice, debate and narration and in-depth expression of likes, dislikes and emotions.

Level 5 ("C1"): Superior

Our Superior Spanish level is for new students who already have a firm understanding of the Spanish language and are capable communicating effectively. Students learn to express their ideas at a more abstract level by dominating colloquial expressions, refining grammar skills and simultaneously increasing their familiarity with Spanish culture.

Level 6 ("C2"): Proficiency

Students with a high command of the Spanish language who are looking to perfect all areas of linguistic proficiency en route to becoming fully bilingual will find themselves in this ultimate course level. The course content will focus on developing a more global perspective of Spanish culture in relation to a certain field of interest as well as the perfection of oral and written skills.
